Our Mission

Southern Luxe Community Salons provides exceptional amenity salon services to residents in senior communities. Our unique approach emphasizes quality and promotes the well-being of senior residents first. Whatever the level of care, every client is treated with respect and dignity; they are given the same time, attention, and regard as customers in a traditional and luxury commercial salon or spa. Our exclusive and highly trained staff and management team will ensure that each resident is greeted, engaged in conversation, consulted, pampered, styled, and thanked for using our salon for their beauty and spa needs. Southern Luxe Community Salons is a wonderfully unique and upscale senior salon and spa management company! We value and recognize the need for an extreme improvement in the delivery and management of aesthetic care services made available to seniors. Our physical and cognitive abilities may change as we age but the desire to feel attractive, look our best and our expectation to receive an enjoyable customer experience should never be diminished! As a company, we are dedicated to this improvement of care and we are offering a new standard and stewardship that aims to bring superior service and the proper salon experience back to the senior client.

Leadership

As the founder and CEO of Southern Luxe Community Salons, Rachel Elizabeth Maness brings more than ten years of leadership and consultative experience to the senior beauty and aesthetic services industry. In addition to her personal love and passion for all things in the world of beauty, she also earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2003 and a cosmetology license in 2005. With a business background and trade skill in hand, she went straight into the management field and gained experience working with skilled professionals in salons and spas.

Rachel Elizabeth Maness

In 2015, she served as a Regional Manager for a salon management company where she managed, staffed, and had full operational oversight of numerous senior community salons within the Mid-Atlantic region.

There she noticed areas for improvement in the way that salon and personal care services could (and should) be delivered. Rachel set out in 2017 with the vision of offering something better to senior residents and their communities. At the heart of this vision, she realized that good business requires thoughtful preparation and long-term, quality-driven practices that focus on both clients and employees. Her business philosophy is centered in her company’s delivery model and system, which aims to provide luxury services to seniors in ways that empower and respect them. Rachel is dedicated to her personal mission statement that compels her to positively impact others. She endeavors to be a kind, effective, compassionate, dedicated, and driven business owner, manager – as well as daughter and friend.

FAQ

Why should we use a salon management company versus an individual contractor?

Individual contractors are often unprepared and unpredictable with services, scheduling, and pricing. There is also little or no management oversight with licensing and compliance of state regulations. Organized salon management teams have systems and processes in place that ensure stable comprehensive services and quality management.

How are service prices set? Will you increase our prices?

Current prices are maintained according to your state regulations for a designation period – usually 30, 60, or 90 days. Services are often added or enhanced, and occasionally there may be a slight price adjustment (both increases and decreases). Community management and your local salon manager will determine necessary changes and give proper notice before we create a newly priced service menu.

Can we choose and approve the stylist chosen for our salon?

Absolutely!

How much does this management service cost?

There are no costs or added fees for our management service. SLCS is simply compensated each month for the price of services that are performed for the residents.

Where do the stylists come from and what are their qualifications?

All our stylists are carefully selected from a pool of applicants. Each licensed applicant goes through a rigorous interview process and is required to pass a comprehensive background check.

What if I want to keep my current stylist(s)?

No problem! We will interview them and see if they would like to join our company as an employee. If they qualify, we are pleased to add them to the SLCS family.

How do you determine the schedule or days of operation needed for our location?

We generally perform services Monday through Friday, between breakfast and dinner hours. The number of operational days per week are determined first by the number of residents within your community and then the specific days of salon operation that you prefer.
